The famous ‘Rock of Gibraltar’ is situated at the southernmost tip of the Iberian Peninsula. Gibraltar is a British Crown Colony. It is self-governing in all areas except for its defence, internal security, foreign affairs and its financial stability. Gibraltar is a member of the EU (but exempt from the free movement of goods and the Schengen Agreement), the OECD, and the Financial Action Task Force (FATF). Gibraltar has a strong and growing economy.

Gibraltar has a multi-cultural background and currently about 30,000 residents. English is the official language although most people also speak Spanish. The official currency is the British Pound Sterling although Gibraltar has its own currency, the Gibraltar Pound at a par with the British Pound.
